Ghost Houses
A prominent
Chinese networking website recently put
up a post calling for publicly
identifying the residences in Nanjing
that has a checked history (murder,
suicide), so as to help people to avoid
purchasing a property that may bring them
bad luck. Right now, around 110
residences have been black listed, and
the local property market is said to feel
rather edgy about this.

It is said for
the first time in history the female
students are outnumbered the males in
many Chinese universities. At Fudan
University, Shanghai, for instance, of
nearly 4000 new students, about 52.3
percent are girls.

A new study by
Beijing Bureau of Statistics shows that
the people who feel most content with
their lives are not rich residents with a
monthly income of 7,000 yuans or more,
nor are the battlers who get less than
4,000 yuans a month, but middle income
earners.
The most dismal
families are said to be those that either
struggle to get ends meet with less than
1500 yuans a month (less than 200 usd),
or earn a monthly income of more than
15,000 yuans.
The study also
reveals that the people living in the
outskirts of the capital seem more
satisfied with their lives comparing to
those in the urban areas.
